Classics and Ancient History

I’m a medical doctor, classicist, and historian of medicine from Malta. I practised medicine in Malta and the UK for around ten years. Alongside my medical work, I completed a B.A. in Classics before going on to earn a PhD in Classics at University College London. I also hold an MD from the University of Malta.

My recent and forthcoming books include Medical Sciences in Early Modern Malta (Malta University Press, 2024) and Witnessing and Testimony in the Age of the Sophists (Liverpool University Press, forthcoming). I’m currently preparing a commentary and translation of the Hippocratic treatise De Carnibus (On Fleshes) for Liverpool University Press.

I have taught Classics, ancient philosophy, and ancient science and medicine at the University of Malta and G. F. Abela Junior College, Malta.
