About Classics and Ancient History at Exeter

We are committed to inspirational teaching and high-quality research in Classics and Ancient History, as well as fostering diverse voices within the field and shaping a more inclusive discipline. Our expertise spans a wide range of specialisms, including history, ancient languages and literature, archaeology, material and visual culture, philosophy, classical receptions and digital approaches to classics. We offer a range of single and joint honours programmes in Classics, Classical Studies and Ancient History tailored to students from all backgrounds. Our research is widely recognised for its commitment to interdisciplinarity, for our collaboration with the arts and charity sectors, and for our engagement with the wider global issues, from UK policy on environment and land use, to the experience of refugees, improving sex education, and the management of infectious diseases.
